Implant Surfaces, Connections & Platforms. Considerations based on Scientific Research and 30 years of Clinical Experience
There is an international consensus about the role of different surface treatment of implants as SLA, acid etching, combinations, etc. They agree that the roughness of the surface makes faster the osseointegration process. Likewise, different prosthetic/implant connections are today available, but internal ones seem to be most useful. Finally, there is a controversial issue concerning the probable less bone loss around implants with switching platform compare with identical platform diameter. Based on late papers, we’ll try to make some conclusions to make the treatment planning easier and successful.
