Optical Anatomy - Protocol for the Use of Digital Images to Achieve Natural Restorations
The analysis of a photographic image correctly carried out following a certain order or protocol, allows a better compression of the anatomical characteristics of the pieces and their interaction with the light (optical anatomy) resulting in greater possibilities to achieve natural-looking dental restorations. The use of "evidence-based" digital photography would therefore result in a great tool for the interpretation of dental color, understanding of the behavior of dental structures, an effective and easy way of communicating with the laboratory and finally, an accurate medium for optimum reproduction of the same.
Learning Objectives :
- Get standardized, high-quality information from digital photographic images
- Learn how to use images for case assessment, treatment planning, communication and marketing
- Establish a protocol for the use of digital photography as a tool for the analysis and interpretation of dental color and its subsequent reproduction in restorations
