Marko Vujicic currently serves as Chief Economist and Vice President of the Health Policy Institute at the American Dental Association. Previously, he was Senior Economist with The World Bank in Washington D.C. where he focused on health systems reform in developing countries and directed the global health workforce policy program. He was also a Health Economist with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

Comparative Analysis of Dental Care System Around the World
The ADA Health Policy Institute has compiled and linked various international data sets that contain information on oral health outcomes and metrics on dental care systems. Data sources include the WorldBank, OECD Health Data, WHO and the Global Burden of Disease project. This lecture will present preliminary descriptive analysis and will outline future research led by HPI. The ideas is to have a brainstorming with the attendees to seek input on specific analyses the international policy community would find useful. This will be an interactive dialogue.
Learning Objective :
- Describe a new data set compiled by the ADA Health Policy Institute that links WorldBank, OECD, WHO, and Global Burden of Disease data on oral health care systems.
- Compare various oral health outcomes (e.g. burden of disease, DMFT, edentulism) and dental care system measures (e.g. total dental spending, number of dental care providers, dental care utilization) for all countries around the world where data are available.
- Identify basic measures of dental care system performance and compare countries across these measures (e.g. burden of disease in excess of what is predicted by GDP and dental care spending).
