Dr. Stephen Mason (Steve) joined GSK Consumer Healthcare in 2005 as Medical Director for Sensodyne. Previously, he was Vice President & General Manager of Hill Top Research Oral Care Division. Originally a PhD chemist (Manchester), Steve has been an active and respected member of the Oral Health research community for almost 30 years, previously at Colgate Palmolive, Quintiles and Hill Top Research. He is a member of the European Association of Caries Research, the IADR, the European Association of Dental Public Health and the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry. Steve is an invited reviewer for several oral health journals such as Caries Research, IADR, Journal of Dentistry and the Cochrane Collaboration.Steve has published over 30 oral health research publications of which many are on the design, performance and benefits of oral healthcare products, the associated epidemiology of dental conditions treated /managed by oral healthcare products or impact of dental conditions on consumer’s/patient’s quality of life.Today, his main research interests are mineralised tissue research (cariology,erosion and dentine hypersensitivity),behavioural science and dental public health.
